At Frames and Panes we take the safety of ourselves and everyone around us as our top priority.

nothing is more important.

That is why we are constantly evaluating our surroundings to assess risks and minimise the possibility of accidents. For any commercial work we can provide a full set of RAMS (risk assessments and method statements) tailored each time to the specific job and task.

What the law says

The Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 (HSW Act) requires employers to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare of their employees and to ensure that those affected by their activities are not exposed to risk. Health and safety law also applies to window cleaners if their work exposes others to risk.

The Work at Height Regulations 2005 require employers and those in control of any work at height activity to ensure that the work is properly planned, supervised and carried out by competent people. This includes using the right type of equipment for working at height. When planning and organising window cleaning it is recommended to avoid work at height where it is reasonably practicable to do so. For this reason we choose to use telescopic water fed poles to elimiate the need to work from height and therefore dramatically reduce the risk of injury for our operatives, clients and those around us.

We also follow the guidance and best practice suggestions in a jointly produced document by HSE and industry which is available from the Federation of Window Cleaners website - 'Window Cleaning with Water Fed Poles – How to do it and look after your body '.
